Episode 82: Tamyra Mensah Stock Proudly Dominant
April 23, 2020
In this episode, World Champion Tamyra Mensah Stock joins me from a team day at the nail salon near the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. So often women are encouraged to hold back, so Tamyra’s story about discovering how she became comfortable with assertively showcasing all her God-given talents and dominating on the mat is super important. We also talk about goals, training, mental strength, the Olympics, role models, and coaching.
Tamyra was in the thick of things preparing to make the Olympic Team when we spoke at the end of February. Since then, with the new Covid-19 world of social distancing and shelter in place, everything has changed. Olympic Trials in early April were postponed, as were, of course, the Olympics.
No matter what, Tamyra is a superstar. This past September she won her first World Championships in spectacular fashion! This entire year she’s been on a roll, winning golds everywhere she goes, including at the Pan American Games, Pan American Championships, and the Golden Grand Prix Ivan Yarygin, and Dan Kolov International Championship. She’s currently ranked number 1 in the US at 68 kilos. And to top that all off at the end of the year she won the United World Wrestling’s women’s wrestler of the year.
