Episode 66: Elana Meyers Taylor Sets Sights Really, really Big

August 8, 2019
This week the absolutely wonderful, highly decorated Olympian and current president of the Women’s Sports Foundation, Elana Meyers Taylor joins the podcast. Elana, a bobsledder, is a 4 time World Champion, 8 time World Championship medalist, 3 time Olympic medalist, and 2015 World Cup Champion.

In 2015 Elana became the 1st woman to earn a spot on the US National Team competing with the men as a 4-man bobsled pilot. She says racing with the men is one of the most meaningful accomplishments in her career.

And she is still actively training and competing full-on with her sights on Beijing2022.

Elana has been working with the Women’s Sports Foundation since 2010 when she received her first of many WSF Travel & Training Fund grants. She’s also served on the Foundation’s Athlete Advisory Panel and is currently the Foundation’s President.

Here’s a full list Elana’s accolades.

Head to the podcast to find out more about racing with the men and why that is so important to her, big long term goals!, an insiders look at the Women’s Sports Foundation, concussions, Taekwondo, and the crazy ride of bobsledding.

This is the third episode in our mini-series about coaching. Elana and I take a look at some of the findings in the recently released report by Women’s Sports Foundation and Nike titled “Coaching Through a Gender Lens: Maximizing Girls’ Play and Potential”. This study and talking to Elana is an important reminder of the power of sports regardless of the level achieved. As she points out 96% of c-suite women played organized sports in their youth. 96%! That’s stunning!

Hear Her Sports will be taking a month break. We have some new projects in the works so subscribe to the podcast wherever you listen to stay updated. Also subscribe to Instagram and Twitter because we’ll be posting some exclusive, new audio clips during our time off.
